Virgin of Guadalupe 100% silk scarf.
Also known as Our Lady of Guadalupe (Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe) is a title of the Virgin Mary associated with the celebrated image housed in the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City.
The Basilica is the most visited Catholic pilgrimage site in the world.
It is possible to read along the border in the scarf the written narrations (in spanish) about the apparitions of Our Lady of Guadalupe that are inspired by the "Nican Mopohua" written in Nahuatl, the Aztec language, by the Indian scholar Antonio Valeriano around the middle of the sixteenth century.
The design of the scarf is an interpretation made by the french artist Stéphanie de Malherbe based on an ancient etching. (www.stephaniedemalherbe.com)
